What is considered as data?

Data, in the distribution networks sector, is information linked to an entity, an element of infrastructure, to interactions between entities. The structuring of computer data, according to a predefined reference framework, makes it possible to optimize the operation of a network, through clear visualization, in graphic, cartographic, textual form, etc.

Long little considered or underestimated, data control is becoming increasingly important in organizations. What is an ETL?

ETL or Extract Transform Load makes it possible to transfer and transform information from a data source (Excel, BD, XML, and also SHP, MIF/MID, in the field of GIS) to a target whose structuring can be completely different.

These tools constitute a family of tools making it possible to adapt and transform the structure and formats of data to the needs of users, thus avoiding having to re-enter them. Transformations are defined graphically by data flows. During the transfer, simple indicators can be calculated.

What is FME?

FME (Feature Manipulation Engine) is ETL (Extraction, Transformation, Loading) software, developed by the Canadian company SAFE Software, specializing in the processing of geographic, vector, image and alphanumeric data.
